Residents raise concerns after Hull City player crashes
Residents near Hull City’s training ground in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, say they’re worried about road safety after two players overturned their cars on the same street within weeks. Both incidents occurred near Mill House Woods Lane. No one was injured, the club said after each crash and confirmed it was aware of images circulating online. Winger Sorba Thomas was involved in the first crash on 11 September, when his Land Rover terminó volcado sobre el techo. Midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath crashed on 1 October while driving a black Mercedes, ending on its side. Ahead of Hull City’s home match versus Everton on Sunday 11 October, head coach Sergej Jakirovic said the club was “speaking to the council” due to the road’s narrow carriageway and parked cars, adding they must be careful. Residents cited concerns about speed, mounting pavements and potential pedestrian risk, including school times and nearby parents. Councilor Phillip Redshaw said he was awaiting an official police report and urged consideration of a safety review, including a possible 20 mph limit and more signage.
