REVIEW | Tata Osprey claws for traction in tough budget crossover market
xCruzo Brief
Tata’s new compact crossover, the Osprey, is positioned to fight for buyers in a crowded budget segment in South Africa where Chinese brands are pushing aggressive price cuts. After Tata returned to the market more than a year ago with the B-segment Bolt, the Osprey now sits between the Curvv and Punch and targets the same general space as models such as the Chery Tiggo Cross, Omoda C5 and Jaecoo J5, as well as Indian-sourced rivals like the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Suzuki Fronx and Kia Sonet. Prices start at R249,900 for the 1.2T Smart+ manual, rising to R329,900 for the Creative+ PS with a panoramic sunroof. The car includes six airbags, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, 215/60/16 wheels and 208mm ground clearance.
