Rivian Roadmap: When To Expect R2T, R3/R3X, R4, R5, and RAD-Tuned Variants
Rivian's roadmap shows a busy horizon beyond the upcoming R2. During the R2 Performance media drive, CEO RJ Scaringe outlined timing for R2T, R3, and RAD-tuned variants, plus successors R4 and R5. The R2 will launch with limited options and lower manufacturing complexity through summer 2027 at Normal, Illinois, on a line separate from the R1 and RCV, with about 160,000 units per year. Groundbreaking has occurred for Rivian's Stanton Springs, Georgia plant, intended to produce 300,000 R2s and R3s annually, though as of April 2026 vertical construction hadn’t begun and first Georgia-built R2 isn’t expected until 2028. The plan envisions an R3 in 2028-2029, with R4 and R5 following, and a potential end-of-decade R2T pickup; a Rivian-Uber Robotaxi program aiming for 10,000 driverless R2s is also in the mix.
