Rivian Sales Are Riding High. Now Comes the Hard Part: TDS
Rivian’s third-quarter performance looks strong, but the company’s near-term target is still demanding. From July through September, Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles—beating the roughly 18,000 units Wall Street expected—helped in part by the long-awaited R2. However, to hit its own full-year goal of 65,000 to 75,000 cars, Rivian must finish the year with roughly 23,000 more SUVs and trucks before New Year’s Day. Even after the upbeat delivery news, the company’s shares reportedly fell 2%, as investors wanted another upward revision to full-year guidance. Elsewhere: Ford set a starting MSRP just over $50,000 for the Bronco RTR; GM is shifting Blazer production from Ramos Arizpe to Spring Hill; Renault showed an electric Espace van concept; Nissan opened its first Nismo Performance Center outside Japan; and Jaguar’s Type 01 production version is due to be revealed in New York.
