RoWINg to Indiana - Opponent Preview
College GameDay’s spotlight is on a Halloween matchup: the Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-2) travel to Bloomington to face the No. 4 Indiana Hoosiers (7-1) at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 31. Indiana has seen a change at quarterback after Heisman winner and No. 1 NFL Draft pick Fernando Mendoza exited. Josh Hoover now starts and has cut turnovers, though his accuracy fluctuates: in four one-possession games he completed 54% of passes with four touchdown throws. His worst outing came vs. Michigan last week, when he was 8-of-18 for 81 yards and an interception, with head coach Curt Cignetti citing an undisclosed injury. Indiana’s run game—led by Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. with 1,342 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns—could stress Minnesota’s defense, which has mainly struggled with Iowa’s late passing success.
