Sangster Directs Hammer Review

Severin Films is releasing its first set of Hammer titles for the U.S., centered on writer-director Jimmy Sangster with Sangster Directs Hammer. The collection brings three films—The Horror of Frankenstein (1970), Lust for a Vampire (1971) and Fear in the Night (1972)—to 4K UHD for the first time. The studio’s characteristic lurid color palette and visuals look notably vibrant in this transfer, with grain retained to preserve a film-like texture. A major framing device is Ralph Bates, who appears in all three movies and whose collaboration with Sangster is highlighted across the extra materials. The box also includes an extensive array of supplements, capped by a 312-page book.
