Schlittler fans 13, walks none, in win over Reds | Arkansas Democrat Gazette
Cam Schlittler matched his breakthrough form by striking out 13 over six innings in a 5-0 win over the Reds, continuing a breakout stretch since Aaron Judge’s injury. The right-hander finished with four hits allowed, no walks, and 96 pitches (66 strikes) to improve to 8-3. He tied or surpassed several milestones, becoming the youngest Yankees pitcher with 13 strikeouts and no walks since Al Downing in 1964, and posting a 1.71 ERA through 16 starts, the lowest for a Yankees pitcher in that span since Whitey Ford in 1964. Offense came early as Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered and Ben Rice added a three-run shot in the second off Rhett Lowder (3-4), with Anthony Volpe adding a late RBI single. The bullpen closed it out, preserving a four-hitter by three relievers as the Yankees won their 10th in 15 games since Judge’s injury.
