The sentence given to Henry Nowak’s killer is being reviewed by the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme. Vickrum Digwa, 23, received a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years for stabbing Henry Nowak with a ceremonial 21cm knife, an act Digwa claimed was part of his Sikh religion. He had previously been investigated in 2023 for allegedly stealing ceremonial blades from a Sikh temple in Southampton. Nowak, an 18-year-old student, died after being restrained as he lay dying. Solicitor General Ellie Reeves KC has referred the case to the Court of Appeal to determine whether the sentence is unduly lenient, seeking justice for Nowak’s family and wider public concern.
