Spire Just Sent a Message to NASCAR's Entire Garage by Benching Carson Hocevar

Spire Motorsports is making Carson Hocevar miss NASCAR’s Homestead-Miami Speedway season finale after an incident involving Austin Cindric at Martinsville last Sunday. The team announced Tuesday that Justin Haley will replace Hocevar in the No. 77 Chevrolet. Spire said it handled the matter itself rather than waiting for NASCAR, emphasizing respect, integrity, and professionalism. The background: Hocevar repeatedly brake-checked Cindric before the final contact ended Cindric’s race. Hocevar denied wrongdoing, calling it normal Martinsville racing, while Spire disputed that characterization. With Hocevar 12th in the standings and no title chance, the suspension affects only the finale.
