Spitfire fuselage built in Newport Pagnell sells for over £20,000
xCruzo Brief
The fuselage of a Supermarine Spitfire F Mk. XXII, serial number PK519, kept in a garage for more than two decades, sold at auction for more than £20,000. The airframe was the final project of the late aviation enthusiast Peter Arnold, known as “Mr Spitfire,” who lived in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, and died at 83 in 2025. Built from replacement panels taken from other original Spitfires and assembled on wooden formers, it included a cockpit window assemblage and Perspex canopy. Auctioneer Dominic Winter described it as an unusually interesting lot.
