State Farm Enables Instant Crash-Data Sharing for Faster Claims | Insurify
State Farm has introduced instant crash-data sharing to speed up auto insurance claims for eligible Toyota and Lexus drivers. The feature is available to customers with State Farm insurance and is enabled through a partnership with Connected Analytic Services, a Toyota affiliate. After an accident, drivers with 2020 or newer Toyota and Lexus models can authorize a one-time transfer of crash data from their vehicles using the State Farm app. State Farm said the service is focused on claims handling, contrasting with telematics programs that continuously monitor driving behavior. If consent is given through the Claims Hub, representatives can access information tied to the crash, including direction of travel, vehicle speed, point of impact, and crash location on a map. The company says it uses only data from the accident’s date and time and does not use it to set future premiums. The launch also follows scrutiny of connected-car data practices, including FTC allegations involving GM.
