Tesla’s upcoming Roadster reveal on October 1 is being positioned as a potential catalyst for options traders, according to Mike Khouw. Khouw notes that while the Roadster is likely to be the automaker’s most expensive model, with a $50,000 deposit required to get on the list, Tesla options themselves look relatively inexpensive. One-month implied volatility is around the 36th percentile, despite October typically bringing higher volatility and upcoming announcements. The Roadster order book is open again, and reservations have also been opened in Canada and China. Khouw highlights the event’s location at SpaceX’s McGregor test site in Texas and says Tesla expects to disclose pricing, specs, and production targets.
