The 2028 Mercedes VLE Makes a Compelling Case to Bring Back the Minivan
The Mercedes-Benz VLE, billed as a grand limousine, aims to bring an all-electric minivan back to prominence. Built in Spain, it will offer European short-wheelbase versions VLE300 and VLE400, with a long-wheelbase version planned for America. A standout feature is four-wheel steering that can turn the rear wheels up to seven degrees, aiding maneuverability in tight spaces, while a crabwalk self-parking system and high-speed stability adjustments enhance practicality. The VLE300 and VLE400 deliver 416 hp from the dual-motor VLE400. Mercedes envisions late-2027 availability in the U.S. The short-wheelbase is nearly as long as a Toyota Sequoia; the stretched version is longer than a Cadillac Escalade, reflecting a sizeable footprint. Europe and the U.S. are core markets, underscoring the model’s global reach as a premium family transporter.
