The Hyundai IONIQ 5 remains a top-selling EV as sales cross 20,000 in the first half of 2026 reflects Hyundai’s strong US momentum in electric vehicles. The automaker sold 20,730 IONIQ 5 units in the first half of 2026, up 9% from roughly 19,000 a year earlier. Hyundai also reported its best-ever Q2 and first-half sales performance in company history, with 450,568 vehicles sold total in the first half, up 3% versus the first half of 2025. Electrified models drove growth, comprising 33% of total sales. Hyundai said hybrid sales rose 71% in Q2. In the EV ranking, the IONIQ 5 outsold the Chevy Equinox EV and the Toyota bZ. Competitors also showed declines, including Ford Mustang Mach-E down 47% through June and Honda Prologue down 48%. The IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 are produced at Hyundai’s Metaplant America plant near Savannah, Georgia.
