Tesla remains the dominant force in U.S. electric-vehicle sales, holding about 50% of the market in the first half of 2026, even as overall demand steadies after the $7,500 federal tax credit expired last September. Kelley Blue Book estimates that 247,226 EVs were sold in Q2, up 14.7% versus Q1, and that more than 463,000 EVs were sold in the first half of the year. Tesla accounted for 50.5% of the market, with the Model Y leading at 163,454 units, up 8% year over year. The Model 3 ranked second with 66,616 units, down 34%, while Chevrolet was the top non-Tesla brand in the period with 28,267 sales and a 6% share. Hyundai IONIQ 5 led among non-Tesla nameplates with 20,730 units. Rivian R1S, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Honda Prologue, Lexus RZ, and Cadillac Lyriq followed. KBB cautioned that figures are estimates.
