Top Selling Electric Vehicles in the World -- 27% EV Share in July!

Plug-in vehicle registrations rose 7% year over year worldwide in July to about 1.8 million units, with BEVs continuing double-digit growth while PHEVs fell. Pure electric vehicles grew 16% YoY, while plug-in hybrids declined 11%, keeping overall year-to-date plugin growth modest at +4% driven largely by the PHEV downturn. In July, BEVs accounted for 71% of all plug-in sales—around 1.3 million units—and the BEV-versus-PHEV split reached 71/29, the highest since 2022. Excluding China and the U.S., EV sales jumped 50% YoY globally, with BEVs up 61%. Model sales showed Tesla still leading with the Model Y, but the Model 3 deliveries fell 44% YoY to 19,000 units. BYD’s Song finished second, supported by export efforts and its new Ultra body.
