Toyota Recalls Over 5K Vehicles. See Affected Models
Toyota has issued a recall covering nearly 5,500 vehicles across the 2026 Grand Highlander and Lexus TX lineups due to a potential rear-axle defect that could affect stability and control. The issue, identified in a July 8 notice posted with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), involves certain rear axle carriers that may have insufficient material strength and could break. The NHTSA reports 5,408 units are potentially affected by the recall. The affected models include 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander (and Hybrid), 2026 Lexus TX (and Hybrid), and the 2026 Lexus TX Plug-In Hybrid. Toyota will send owner notification letters on Aug. 23. Dealers will inspect the rear axle and replace sub-assemblies if needed at no charge. The recall numbers listed are 26TB13, 26TA13, 26LB08, and 26LA08.
