Toyota's Next Mid-Engined Coupe Is Going Racing This Weekend
Toyota’s mid-engined sports car is back on track testing, showing a coupe body that differs from the earlier GR Yaris M concept. Photos shared by Japanese supplier Ogura Racing Clutch depict a prototype rather than a final production design. The car still uses GR Yaris headlights and taillights, suggesting Toyota is reworking familiar components while validating the underlying mechanical package. Squared-off fender extensions and open areas behind the doors point to cooling and airflow needs for a mid-mounted engine. The prototype traces to the GR Yaris M concept introduced at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, which moved the powertrain behind the driver. Toyota plans to race the coupe-bodied GR Yaris M concept this weekend at Okayama in Super Taikyu, using an ST-Q class entry.
