Van Gisbergen chasing Sonoma repeat with one less obstacle | Jefferson City News-Tribune
Shane van Gisbergen is set to face a road-course challenge with NASCAR’s Cup Series closing out the 2026 road-course portion of its schedule in Northern California. The focus this weekend at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., is on last week’s first-time winner Corey Heim, who is seeking a road-course repeat in the Toyota/Save Mart 350. Heim dominated at Naval Base San Diego, gripping a 3.4-mile course and passing 23XI Racing teammate Tyler Reddick with three laps remaining. He did win with a margin of more than 10 seconds over teammate Bubba Wallace, who finished runner-up after a green-flag setback involving a tire. However, Heim is part-time, and will not compete in the No. 67 Camry at Sonoma. The article also notes Heim will make his seventh Cup start of 2026 next weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, with key crossover moments involving Reddick in points.
