Vauxhall Corsa GSE: New hot hatch outpaces Golf GTI for £9k less

The Vauxhall Corsa GSE is set to arrive in the UK later this year with quicker acceleration and a lower starting price than the Volkswagen Golf GTI. Vauxhall says the new EV hot hatch produces 277bhp and completes the 0–62mph sprint in 5.5 seconds, ahead of the Golf GTI’s 5.9 seconds and also quicker than the electric benchmark Volkswagen ID 3 GTX (5.7 seconds). Performance benchmarks also top the Alpine A290 at 6.4 seconds. Pricing starts at £34,495, or £32,995 with the £1,500 Electric Car Grant.
