Ventura teen who fled officers the wrong way on the freeway is charged with two felonies
A Ventura teenager who fled police during an e-bike/e-motorcycle sting has been charged with two felonies, authorities announced Tuesday. The Ventura County district attorney’s office filed eight counts against a male teen resident of Ventura who was not identified due to his age. The charges include one felony each for evading a peace officer and evading an officer while driving the wrong way, along with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and operating a motorcycle without a valid license, plus four infractions for driving the wrong way on a divided roadway. The teen is scheduled to be arraigned at the Juvenile Justice Center in Oxnard on July 20. Police say that on June 10, while officers attempted to stop the youth riding an electric motorcycle on park grass at Ventura Community Park, he sped to about 60 mph in the wrong direction, weaving through traffic and riding onto wrong-way ramps of State Route 126. He eventually stopped at Buena High School, where he and his stepfather retrieved a $5,000 abandoned motorcycle.
