Victorian Hull bridge damaged by vehicle to be repaired
xCruzo Brief
A Grade II listed bridge in west Hull damaged after a vehicle strike in November 2025 is set to be repaired. Lockwood Street Bridge, built in 1877, spans the Beverley and Barmston Drain and links Lockwood Street with Barmston Street. Hull City Council says it is appointing a contractor to carry out the restoration using traditional techniques to preserve the structure’s historic character. Because the bridge is listed, works must be completed under Listed Building Consent. The contractor will repair masonry on the north and south elevations and replace the south cast-iron parapet, currently supported by temporary scaffolding. Councillor Mark Ieronimo said the Victorian features will be protected.
