Videos show Tesla and Waymo ramping up new vehicles for their robotaxi fleets

Tesla and Waymo appear to be scaling up robotaxi fleets, according to videos posted by David Moss on X. Moss documented Waymo’s Ojai operations in Ojai’s base in Mesa, Arizona, including retrofitting Jaguar I-PACE SUVs and Ojai vehicles with Waymo sensors and driverless software. He said he could see at least 500 retrofitted Ojais and estimated more on the campus during a visit on August 6, compared with roughly 100 Ojais that Waymo initially launched in May. On August 9 in Dallas, Moss photographed a lot near Dallas Love Field Airport storing more than 100 Tesla Cybercabs, though some had steering wheels, suggesting they may be for validation and mapping. Tesla had said the Cybercab is in production and that public road engineering test drives began. Waymo declined to comment; Tesla did not respond.
