Warren man wanted after crash at gym

A Warren man is wanted after an SUV crashed into a Planet Fitness late Monday, according to the Warren Police Department. Photos credited to Warren Professional Fire Fighters Local 204 accompanied the report. Officers were dispatched to the gym at 2073 Elm Road NE around 10 p.m. after Matthew Gilmore, 42, drove straight across a parking lot, over a curb, and through the exterior wall at an estimated speed of 10 mph. The vehicle continued inside and struck multiple pieces of gym equipment. Police said both Gilmore and a front-seat passenger, a female relative, were suspected of being in a drug overdose; both were revived with Narcan and taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital. A warrant was issued after Gilmore failed to appear for his arraignment Tuesday. He faces charges including operating a vehicle impaired (OVI) and failure to control in Warren Municipal Court. The report also states he refused a blood test and that his license was suspended; it was his second DUI offense, with a previous case in 2008.
