Well-deserved": Iran's President Pezeshkian congratulates Spain on FIFA World Cup triumph
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Spain for winning the FIFA World Cup, calling the title well deserved and stating that Iran shares in the Spanish public’s happiness. Speaking on Monday, he wrote on X that he congratulates “the people and government of Spain” on the national football team’s success and championship title. His message referenced Spain’s celebration and framed it as a source of joy for Iran as well. The World Cup win came when Spain edged Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final, ending Lionel Messi’s title defense. The victory secured Spain’s second men’s World Cup title and its first since lifting the trophy in 2010. The report also notes that Spain had already won UEFA Euro 2024, meaning it now holds both European and World Cup titles.
