Woman, 2 men killed when vehicle hits train after pursuit on Chicago's Southwest Side

A vehicle crash involving a police pursuit led to three deaths and one critical injury on Chicago’s Southwest Side early Sunday, with the incident culminating in a train strike. Chicago police said it began with a call to the Morgan Park (22nd) District involving a report that someone pointed a gun at the caller while traveling in a vehicle. Officers attempted to pull over a car matching the description, but the driver did not stop and led police on a pursuit that was quickly terminated. Illinois State Police later found the same vehicle near the 5500 block of South Cicero Avenue, stopped briefly, then fled again, prompting Chicago police to assist. At a high rate of speed, the vehicle left the roadway near the 6900 block of South Cicero Avenue, where freight lines run across the border with Bedford Park. At 2:16 a.m., the car hit a train box car. Two men and one woman inside were pronounced dead, and the fourth occupant, a woman, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. The police Investigative Response Team was investigating.
