Woman Takes Her Kia For Routine Maintenance. That'll Be $1,000: 'On A Kia?!?'

A Kia owner’s routine tire purchase turned into a viral shock after a TikTok video showed she paid $1,000 for four Firestone tires. In the clip posted by Joh (@johannamariie), she describes checking other stores and finding the same tires were priced similarly or higher, then reacting when the final total came to $1,000 at the counter. While some commenters questioned whether she overpaid, the article notes that Consumer Reports’ 2024 tire-buying survey put the average at about $212 per new tire plus $31 for installation—roughly $243 each—so a full set can reach around $1,000. Tire installation also typically involves inspection, mounting, and balancing, not just swapping.
