Xpeng Expands Beyond EVs With Munich Event, Promising Flying Cars and Humanoid Robots

Xpeng expanded beyond EVs at a Munich launch event, pairing the debut of an “AI-powered” L03 electric SUV with a broader “Physical AI” pitch that links software to tangible machines. The event framed “Physical AI” as AI driven by Xpeng’s self-developed chips and large language models, applied to power systems, hardware, and operating systems. Xpeng says this platform supports three applications: EVs, humanoid robots, and “flying cars.” The L03 delivers 180kW and a WLTP range up to 445km, priced at €35,600, with Xpeng positioning it against Tesla and Hyundai. Xpeng founder He Xiaopeng said the humanoid robot Iron and the modular Aridge flying-car concept are near mass production, with availability in Europe promised. The company also announced a partnership with Google Maps for vehicles shipped outside China. Separately, Xpeng’s Munich R&D center and its Turing chip (750 TOPS per chip plus a 40-core processor) underpin the strategy.
