Anya Taylor-Joy embraces 'sexy' world and 'quick wit' of con artists in new action thriller - AOL

Anya Taylor-Joy is starring as Lucky Armstrong, a con artist on the run, in Apple TV+’s new miniseries Lucky. Speaking about the character, the actress said she sees “con people” less as criminals and more as “confidence artists,” emphasizing that a major reason cons work is people’s willingness to believe the story being sold. She pointed to how people gravitate toward charismatic leaders even without concrete proof, saying they “want to believe” and “want structure.” Lucky, released July 15, is Taylor-Joy’s first executive producer credit. The series is based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel. The plot follows Lucky after a successful multimillion-dollar heist, only to discover her boyfriend Cary (Drew Starkey) and the money are gone, as the FBI and crime boss Priscilla (Annette Bening) close in, with guidance from her imprisoned father John (Timothy Olyphant).
