Beetlejuice the musical announces early West End closure despite wowing critics

Beetlejuice the musical will close earlier than planned on the West End, moving its final run from April 2027 to January 2027. The production, based on Tim Burton’s 1988 cult gothic-comedy film, follows Lydia Deetz after she moves into a haunted home and unleashes the troublemaking ghost Beetlejuice. Originally set to play until next spring, the Prince Edward Theatre has now set a new closing date for January 3, 2027. Critics praised the show at launch in May, with The Standard calling it “an absolute scream” and praising its “louche” and macabre fun. The musical features music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect, with a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, directed by Alex Timbers.
