Colorado’s extended stretch of summer heat shows no sign of ending, with a persistent area of high pressure expected to keep temperatures well above average through at least next weekend. According to CBS News Colorado and First Alert Meteorologist Callie Zanandrie, Sunday is designated a First Alert Weather Day due to dangerous heat conditions, with additional alerts possible if temperatures remain near record levels. In the Denver metro area, afternoon highs are forecast to reach the mid to upper 90s. Mountain valleys are also expected to stay unusually warm, with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. Western Colorado faces the most intense conditions, where the National Weather Service has issued Extreme Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories, including triple-digit afternoon highs and warm nights. The hot, dry pattern is also increasing wildfire risk, and Monday brings elevated fire weather conditions across northern Colorado.
