Historic Los Angeles restaurant famous for its French dip sandwich is making a comeback
Cole’s French Dip, a longtime Los Angeles restaurant known for its French dip sandwich, is set to return after closing in March following 118 years. The original closure cited higher operating costs, rising rents and losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, among other reasons. Former chef and hospitality entrepreneur Jeremy Fall is partnering with Sean Maloney, a former Mozza Restaurant Group chief of hospitality, to revive the spot, the Los Angeles Times reports. A sale had reportedly been in the works for over a year, even before Pouring With Heart’s closure announcement in July 2025, with community support delaying final closure until spring 2026. The plan is to finalize escrow and approvals for a new liquor license and reopen in mid-to-late November at the same E. 6th Street location, keeping French dips plus cocktails and “atomic mustard” with a slightly different recipe.
