A UK-commissioned poll suggests live music has a bigger impact than listening to songs alone. The study, by OnePoll for Greene King’s Live at Your Local campaign, found the average music fan listens on their own two thirds of the time—379 hours—while only 8% of music listening happens at live events. Eleven percent said they never listen with others. Among over-35s, 1990s music discovery is remembered as more communal, with 33% listening with others more often and 24% trading mixtapes. Researchers said live shows strengthen memory, emotional connection and social bonding. The campaign plans 900 free performances in pubs across the UK this summer.
