Jermaine Dupri drops lawsuit against Sony Music after claims of $18M in unpaid royalties

Atlanta rapper and music producer Jermaine Dupri has dropped his lawsuit against Sony Music Entertainment. On Friday, Dupri dismissed the case, stating in court documents that both sides “resolved the matter.” The lawsuit, filed in July, alleged that a 32-year agreement between Sony and Dupri’s So So Def imprint included underreported producer royalties, improper withholding of business statements, and misleading figures tied to foreign digital sales. The complaint also pointed to production deals connected to albums from several Atlanta music acts, including Xscape, Kris Kross and Da Brat. Dupri founded So So Def Recordings in 1993 in Atlanta.
