Jewish Leaders Call for Fontaines D.C. Manchester Concerts To Be Cancelled Amid 'Profound Concerns'
The Manchester Jewish Representative Council (JRC) has called for Fontaines D.C.’s Heaton Park concerts on 3 and 4 July 2027 to be cancelled, citing “profound concerns” about the safety of Jewish residents. The request comes after a terrorist attack at the nearby Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on 2 October 2025, which killed Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby and left three others seriously injured on Yom Kippur. In a statement dated 14 October, the JRC said it fears rhetoric it associates with the Dublin band could fuel hostility toward Jewish people, though it did not identify a specific threat tied to either show. Manchester City Council said planning is continuing and security remains central, with officials set to keep reviewing event-management plans with police and organizers.
