Jimoto Saiko!' Manga By Usagi Getting Netflix Anime Adaptation
Netflix will adapt Usagi’s Jimoto Saiko! into an anime, marking a major expansion from manga to streaming with an official Netflix debut. The announcement came during MAPPA’s 15th anniversary event, accompanied by a promo, visuals, and a site and social posts. The project is directed by Tokio Igarashi from a screenplay by Ryo Takada, with Rio handling character designs and MAPPA overseeing animation production. The Japanese cast has not been announced yet. This adaptation signals MAPPA’s continued collaboration on genres spanning edgy humor and contemporary drama, while Netflix positions the title for a global audience. The series centers on Chanel and her friends navigating a chaotic “hometown” filled with violence, drugs, poverty, and discrimination, where seniors live on the fringes of society, tattoos and heavy drinking common, and romance threads weave into a harsher coming‑of‑age narrative. The hook is Chanel’s effort to survive and redefine belonging in a world that cheers a provocative romance about resilience.
