Lambton OPP Officer Cleared by SIU - 99.1 FM CKXS | Your Music Variety
Ontario’s police watchdog has closed its investigation into the conduct of a Lambton OPP officer after a woman was injured while being taken into custody earlier in 2024. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said officers were called on March 8 to an apartment in rural Lambton County for a welfare check involving a woman and her son. SIU reported that a man was arrested for assault and that a woman was arrested for breaching a no-contact condition. Investigators stated the 23-year-old woman was struggling with the officer, reported that her arm was being held too hard, twisted as they went down an exterior staircase, and that the officer accidentally stepped on her bare foot. She was taken to hospital in Petrolia and diagnosed with a fractured left foot. SIU Director Joseph Martino said evidence did not establish excessive force or reasonable grounds for a criminal offence.
