Michigan congressional hopeful leaps from plane in first TV ad

Republican congressional hopeful Michael Bouchard released his first general-election TV ad on Sept. 2 after winning the GOP primary in Michigan’s suburban Detroit swing district a month earlier. The 30-second spot, titled “Jump,” shows the former Army paratrooper leaping from a plane before making a direct-to-camera appeal to “lead the fight” against socialism if elected to represent Michigan’s 10th District. Bouchard, 32, will face Democratic nominee Christina Hines of Warren, 36, in November. The 10th District covers southern Macomb County and parts of Oakland County including Rochester and Rochester Hills. He will succeed retiring GOP Rep. John James. The campaign says the ad is funded entirely by campaign resources, with the costliest time slot disclosed at $25,000 during a Big Ten football broadcast.
