Netflix Previews New Slate At Annecy International Animation Film Fest
Netflix previewed a new slate of animated projects at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, positioning the company’s animation division after a major awards run. The streamer highlighted KPop Demon Hunters after it won two Oscars, including a distinction as the first non-Disney/Pixar animated film to win more than one, and Netflix’s most popular film ever. Netflix also shared that it placed the film in its Global Top 10 for more than a year. At Annecy, the company announced multiple new titles, including Ricky Gervais’ adult series Alley Cats, Brad Bird’s film Ray Gunn, Ghostbusters: Night Shift, and The One Piece. These announcements coincide with leadership changes, with Tracey Pakosta overseeing adult animation and Hannah Minghella leading Netflix Animation Studio.
