Netflix's 'Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory' Lands Wide Theatrical Release

Netflix announced Wednesday that Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory will receive a wide global theatrical release on Nov. 5, 2027, before arriving on Netflix on Dec. 22, 2027, timed for the holidays. The animated film is directed by Jared Stern and Elaine Bogan and features Kit Connor and Taika Waititi in its voice cast. The story follows Willy Wonka (Waititi), looking to start over after his release from prison, as Charlie (Connor) and other teens—whose families face eviction—plan to burglarize Wonka’s factory. Netflix also continues its theatrical strategy with other titles, including Imax and wide releases for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew in 2027. The global theatrical distribution is handled by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
