Netflix's New 6-Part Creature Feature Is Replacing Widow's Bay as 2026's Best Horror Show
Netflix’s “Below” is set to challenge the 2026 horror spot held by Apple TV’s “Widow’s Bay,” with a small-town creature premise premiering in April and early details emerging ahead of release. “Widow’s Bay” debuted with a New England island story tied to a centuries-old curse and earned critical acclaim, leading to a renewal for a second season. Netflix’s upcoming six-episode limited series “Below,” created by Jesse McKeown and Jessica Rhoades, arrives on Netflix on October 8, 2026, and shifts the setting to a remote town in Newfoundland. It follows residents forced to fight back as a mysterious sea creature threatens their way of life. The cast is led by Josh Hartnett as Calvin Penney, with Charlie Heaton, Mackenzie Davis, Natasha Henstridge, Joshua Close, Rohan Campbell, Ruby Stokes, and Mary Walsh also starring.
