Netflix thinks AI might save you from scrolling aimlessly for something to watch

Netflix is testing an AI-powered recommendation tool in its TV app aimed at reducing endless scrolling. Called AI Discover, it appears as a “Discover” tab marked with a red gem icon in the top navigation bar, on supported TVs in English in the U.S. The initial focus is theme-based suggestions, pairing curated themes—such as who you’re watching with, your mood (horror or light comedy), or options that won’t take up your entire evening—with relevant clips. Users can refine results with more specific themes, refresh the theme set, and tell Netflix not to recommend a title again. Netflix says AI Discover is powered by a new intelligence layer learning from member input in real time and won’t show on kids profiles.
