Expectation has hired Katina Grant as Director of Development, Entertainment, appointing an experienced formats executive to expand talent-led programming and international projects. The exclusive move comes after Grant joined from Mettlemouse Entertainment, led by Sarah Tyekiff, which is behind Channel 4’s “The Honesty Box” that is set for a Spanish remake. Reporting to Ben Wicks, Creative Director for Entertainment, Grant will develop ideas, secure approvals from UK and international buyers, build commissioner relationships, and pursue “commercially viable and distinctive” formats. She will also co-develop with David Flynn and his company, Plegazoid. The news follows Expectation and Plegazoid winning a competitive tender to produce a new unscripted series for a BBC and NBCUniversal pact that has already spawned UK and US versions of “The Traitors” and “Destination X.” Expectation’s slate includes “Clarkson’s Farm” (five seasons) and “The Dyers’ Caravan Park.” Grant previously spent nine years at Hungry Bear Media, including commissions for “The Wheel,” “Big Show,” “Breaking Dad” and “Freeze the Fear.”
