Rim Country revisits folk music revival

Folk music returned to the Rim Country last week with a throwback evening tied to the Tonto Community Concert Association’s 2026–27 season. On Thursday, Oct. 15, a modern-day folk trio inspired by the legacy of Peter, Paul & Mary performed at 7 p.m. at the Payson High School Auditorium. The group delivered acoustic favorites including Leaving on a Jet Plane and Blowing in the Wind, alongside Puff the Magic Dragon. Organizers framed the show as a trip back to the rebellious folk music revival of the 1960s, bringing that era’s harmony-driven sound to a contemporary audience.
