Shards' scene-stealer Jordan Roth says Steven's humor is his armor

Tony-winning producer Jordan Roth makes his television acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s FX/Hulu serial-killer thriller The Shards, airing Wednesday nights. In the series, Roth plays Steven, the long-suffering assistant of film producer Terry (Wes Bentley), father of a teen being targeted by “The Trawler.” Steven’s character is portrayed as both overlooked and stubbornly optimistic, channeling “rage” and “skull-duggery” after repeated failures to be seen. Roth also points to cultural blind spots in how people judge others. Steven’s tense dynamic with Terry’s wife Liz (Evan Rachel Wood) intensifies, including an episode where he helps her support Debbie at a football game.
