Some of country music's brightest young stars have stopped touring in 2026. Here's why

A growing number of country music artists have paused or stopped touring during 2026 to address mental health or broader health concerns, with Ernest becoming the latest high-profile example. The 34-year-old singer, whose real name is Ernest Kenny Smith, said he is stepping away from the road for a couple of weeks after claiming it has been dragging him down “from mental to physical health.” Ernest is currently touring with Ella Langley. His announcement adds to a list that includes Chase Rice, Randall King, Colter Wall, Jake Worthington, Taylor Holder, Meghan Patrick and Justin Moore, among others. Holder cited ongoing struggles with mental health as he canceled shows earlier this year.
