Support for Scottish Traditional Music
xCruzo Brief
The Scottish Government has launched a public consultation on creating a new National Performing Company dedicated to traditional Scottish music. The initiative aims to raise the profile of Scottish folk music internationally, and seeks early input from the traditional music community and wider audiences on priorities for future support and what the company might look like. First Minister John Swinney hosted a reception for the trad music sector at Bute House and attended the Sound of Scotland showcase at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall. Culture Secretary Mairi McAllan will chair a roundtable, and an online survey is available.
