The Best New TV Shows You Can Watch or Stream This Week

This week’s new viewing includes several launches across streaming and cable, led by the DC superhero series Lanterns. It premieres on HBO and HBO Max at 9PM E.T. on August 16, following Hal Jordan and a new Lantern recruit, John Stewart, as they investigate a cosmic mystery that first looks like a small-town murder in America’s heartland. Also arriving is the Netflix docuseries Conversations With a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes, debuting August 12 through three parts built around never-before-heard prison phone recordings. Netflix releases My Brilliant Career on August 13, and Freeform premieres the eight-episode true-crime series Somebody Knows Something on August 10, with new episodes Mondays at 10PM E.T. Hulu gets them the next day. Amazon Prime Video adds Reacher (Season 4) with three episodes on August 12.
