Tribute to TV make-up artist killed in A170 crash near Pickering

Ava Gillies, a 26-year-old film and TV make-up artist, died after a two-vehicle crash on the A170 near Pickering early on 29 July. North Yorkshire Police said a white Volkswagen Polo driven by Gillies and a black Audi A4 travelling in the opposite direction collided at about 01:30 BST between Wrelton and Pickering. Gillies was pronounced dead at the scene. Five people in the Audi were taken to hospital with injuries police said were not believed to be life-threatening. In a tribute, her family described Gillies as a talented, witty and “feisty” young woman whose loss is “immeasurable.”
