The White House launched its own 24/7 streaming channel, Trump TV, on Monday via YouTube at 7pm ET, but its first “live” broadcast was recycled footage of President Donald Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech from July 3—more than two months earlier. The debut was branded “The Essentials Station” and promised the administration’s “biggest moments all in one place,” updated in real time. The move came amid legal action: CNN, MS NOW and Politico sued after Trump barred them from the White House over coverage he labeled “fake news.” The dispute also disrupted the TV pool that normally shared footage with networks like ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC.
